DECLAN

Scorers: Josh

Although another defeat for Timperley this game was great to watch! Kick off was at 11am with Declan in goal, Josh and Dalton upfront, Jayson and Dharun in midfield, Luke and Elisha in defence and Jordan and James as subs.
Both teams were off to a strong start, Luke and Elisha maintained their positions to ensure the ball was sent back to the North Trafford end. Timperley were awarded a corner within the first five minutes. Taken by Jayson this was one of many “hold your breath” moments as the ball was played to Josh who attempted to put the ball in the back of the net but North Trafford fought back and it then became clear player number eight was their strength as he played the ball down the pitch to our goal and scored.
Again, Timperley did not allow this to knock their confidence and after a throw in from Elisha and further throw in from Jayson, Timperley worked the ball well and then came a superb goal from Josh! The score is now 1-1.
Throughout the first third we saw some excellent tackling from Dharun and Dalton. Jayson worked hard and his mean kicks and strong challenges are always key to our games. Jayson takes another corner which sets up another near miss goal attempt.
The first third finished 1-1.
The second third kicked off with James upfront and Dalton substituted. Josh was moved to midfield to mark player number eight as he was the one to watch!
During the second half we saw two great headers from Jayson and Josh and two good goal attempts from both. A good challenge from Josh saw him grounded and despite the shouting from the parents the referee was oblivious our player was down. We eventually caught his attention and Josh was awarded the ball. The ball was won back by North Trafford and number eight continued to show he was the strength of his team and scored his second goal. The score is now 2-1.
The last third saw Jayson and Elisha substituted and Jordan and Dalton brought on. We provided three corners for North Trafford, one of which was a good goal attempt from number eight.
Josh was awarded a free kick for another challenge. Timperley were close to scoring on many occasions with a great kick from Dalton and good passing from Jordan and James.
Dharun and Luke were great in defence and we saw two excellent saves from Declan in goal. One of which collapsed the goal! This created a short moment of laughter for both teams and the parents.
Josh was awarded another free kick which saw the ball go wide of the goal. James was substituted and Jayson brought back on.
Dharun produced an excellent challenge to win the ball back for Timperley. Before they could reach Trafford’s goal the final whistle blew and the game ended 2-1.
The parents really enjoyed watching this match; it was a close game with great passing, good defence and superb goalkeeping!

To the parents and players delight there is warm food and refreshments available to buy at our home ground during and after the matches, which is what every home ground needs for those cold football mornings!

Team Talk – Declan was awarded Man of the Match for his superb goalkeeping and improved attitude.

Coach’s comments – The coach found this match really enjoyable to watch. The team are now working together and players’ attitude has improved. Great match : )

U12s - Old Stretfordians

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

RAHUL

Scorers: Ashley x 2
This week our visitors to Banky Lane were Old Stretfordians (with our old boy Jamie Jenkinson!). Over the past couple of seasons this has been a tough fixture for us with "Stret's" normally having the edge. Today we had some good news, they only had 9 men!. The match started brightly with both teams having some good early posession. Even though they were down on players they were well organised and made things difficult for us. They started to press down the right flank but Rahul was in fine form and nothing was getting past him today. Our midfield soon started to take control and work the ball out to Calum on the left and Ashley on the right who both pressed the "Stret's" fullbacks to the edge of their penalty area. Unfortunately both were unlucky with their shooting and the score stayed 0-0. We started to play more of the game in their half and James had a fine run that ended with him shooting from just inside the area and the keeper making a fine save to his right. Eventually all our pressure told and a typical burst down the right wing saw Ashley leave their defence in his wake and fire past the keeper 1-0! This made the heads drop on the "Stret's" side a bit and we pressed for a second. We had a couple of corners but nothing came of it and we then got sloppy. Pressing too far up the pitch gave "Stret's" the opportunity to counter and on more than one occassion, we had our weekly goalmouth scambles where for some reason, we can't seem to clear the ball out of our own penalty area!Anthony stayed firm in goal though and made some great saves.
The second half started with us pressing again and you could see that "Stret's" were getting tired. Connor started to make some good passes from midfield and Dylan made some strong tackles in defence (his first half was not his best - he blamed his new boots!) We had some good effforts from Danny and Ashley but each time it was hit straight at their keeper. Once again the ball was worked out to Ashley and this time he made no mistake 2-0! Again, soon after we scored we seemed to press too far up the pitch and were nearly caught out on the break but Micheal and Darren made some timely challanges. Rohan had a great run, beat two players and was unlucky with his shot, whilst Connor had a great effort that came back off the cross bar. We then kept control and finished the match in welll. Another home win! Although Ashley scored 2, for his display in defence Shane awarded the Man of the Match to Rahul.

U15s -v- Broadheath A
Score: 0 - 2

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

LEWIS

Scorers:

This week the U15s entertained Broadheath A at Banky Lane. Broadheath finished at the top of the table last season and with 5 players unavailable another high scoreline loomed possible. However Broadheath were also short of players (if not short of height throughout the spine of the team).
Early in the first half Broadheath took advantage of a scramble in the box and their attacker turned on the ball and shot across James into the bottom left hand corner of the goal. From this point on though Timperley matched broadheath ball for ball and as the team got used to yet another enforced formation change.
Wes had re-signed for the club having left in the Summer and his movement off the ball was a constant worry to the Broadheath defence as balls were either passed through the midfield or over the top. At twenty minutes in Cody found Wes with a lovely pass from the middle to the left and Wes drew the foul having no where really to go with the ball. The ball was put into the area and Sam just headed over. Broadheath countered but Jack got back to clear off the line superbly.
With less than ten minutes to go to half time Wes again got through but his shot was just pushed wide by the keeper for the corner but the team couldn't convert.
The second half started as the first finished with attack followed by counter. Lewis was showing some of the form which earned him the players player award at the end of last season with some fine defending and the post was doing its utmost to assist. Wes was continuing to provide a realsitic threat and it looked as though he had turned provider putting Cody in on goal but his chip over the keeper also just cleared the bar.
Broadheath however got further in front at 15 minutes in with a soft goal coming from a free kick. Obviously well rehearsed the ball was chipped onto the monster forward's head who nodded the ball in relatively unchalleneged (Not that there any Timperley players on the pitch who could look him square in the chest anyway!).
As the game unfolded both sides post and bar kept the scoreline the same along with some really good saves by their keeper.
This week there were good performances all over the pitch but Lewis was back on top form and got the man of the match award for a fine display in defence.
